Those who disbelieve spend their wealth barring access to the way of Allah. They will spend it; then they will regret it; then they will be overthrown… (Surat al-Anfal, 36)
This labor of opposition may sometimes be carried out using open methods and means, and at other times by the use of secret tactics. Yet the objective is always the same: to prevent the remembrance of the name of Allah and thus to turn people away from religious moral values.
The various trends that have recently emerged simultaneously in various countries are noteworthy from this point of view. Clearly, these world views, which speak in veiled terms of a cosmic force, an energy, or a designer of the universe, but which stubbornly refuse to recall the name of Almighty Allah, the only Creator of all things, serve a false purpose. This may be an effort to misdirect the spiritual quest in people and to prevent them from living by the true religion.
At heart, this is a project aimed at establishing an artificial religion, a kind of mixture of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Under this artificial religion, people will accept the existence of a power that brought the universe into being, but the identity of that power will be unclear (Surely Allah is beyond that); they will not recall the name of Allah, and will not learn and appreciate His great attributes as they should. They will ignore the fact that He is the only Creator and Lord of the entire universe, and there will thus be no need for them to live by the religious commandments He revealed to mankind.
It is clear that this represents a grave threat to religious moral values. This is why true believers must be on their guard against movements that avoid recalling the name of Allah and openly stating that Almighty Allah created the entire universe from nothing, and that instead seek to hide behind confusing and indirect terminology such as a designer, a cosmic force, or energy.
For sincere believers, recalling the name of Allah and exalting His glory is a great religious observance, a source of enthusiasm and excitement, performed with joy and love. As is revealed in the verse: "He is Allah - the Creator, the Maker, the Giver of Form. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Everything in the heavens and Earth glorifies Him. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise," (Surat al-Hashr, 24) those who believe that Almighty Allah flawlessly created all things from nothing should feel a great sense of honor at recalling our Lord by His most glorious names.
A Muslim Rejoices at Recalling the Name of Allah
As we are informed in another verse, "Your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the Earth in six days and then settled Himself firmly on the Throne," (Surat al-A'raf, 54), our Lord is Almighty Allah. He is the Creator of all. He is Guardian over all things. He is the sole owner of the heavens and the Earth, and all that lies between. There is no other god but Him. Verses reveal that Allah, our Lord, is sublime and great:
… That is Allah, your Lord. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. He is the Living - there is no god but Him - so call on Him, making your religion sincerely His. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. (Surah Ghafir, 64-65)
One of the responsibilities of the faithful throughout their lives is to communicate the message, in other words to tell all people of the existence and oneness of Allah, to call them to the true religion, to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. The nature of the path that Muslims must follow in discharging this honorable responsibility can clearly be seen in the Qur'an and the life of the Prophet (saas). As always, a Muslim must be honest and sincere in communicating the message, and must not forget that it is Almighty Allah Who will guide to the true path. It is evident that this will not be possible without recalling the name of Allah and telling people of His existence and oneness. Muslims must describe the existence of Allah and His attributes in the manner and style He revealed in the Qur'an. The glorious attributes of our Lord are revealed thus in the Qur'an:
Allah, there is no god but Him, the Living, the Self-Sustaining. He is not subject to drowsiness or sleep. Everything in the heavens and the Earth belongs to Him. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them but they cannot grasp any of His knowledge save what He wills. His Footstool encompasses the heavens and the Earth and their preservation does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Magnificent. (Surat al-Baqara, 255)
Another feature that must be seen in a Muslim who speaks of the existence and oneness of Allah is a joyous, passionate, sincere and deep love of Him. In one verse it is revealed that the faithful love Allah above all things:
Some people set up equals to Allah, loving them as they should love Allah. But those who believe have greater love for Allah… (Surat al-Baqara, 165)
Clearly, the mindset that despite all this still avoids recalling the name of Allah, that deceives both itself and others by using veiled terminology, and that moreover imagines it is doing so in the name of religion, is making a grave error. It is useless to ignore or seek to avoid this truth. Those with such a mindset have been warned in the Qur'an:
That is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of everything. There is no god but Him - so how have you been perverted? (Surah Ghafir, 62)
WHAT DOES ISLAM SAY ABOUT TERRORISM ?

Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God has said: { God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers } (Quran, 60:8)
The Prophet Muhammad used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children, and he would advise them: "...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child" And he also said: "Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise.."
Also, the Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire.
He once listed murder as the second of the major sins, and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, "The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed"
Muslims are even encouraged to be kind to animals and are forbidden to hurt them. Once the Prophet Muhammad said: "A woman was punished because she imprisoned a cat until it died. On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth"
He also said that a man gave a very thirsty dog a drink, so God forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?” He said: "There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human"
Additionally, while taking the life of an animal for food, Muslims are commanded to do so in a manner that causes the least amount of fright and suffering possible. The Prophet Muhammad said: "When you slaughter an animal, do so in the best way. One should sharpen his knife to reduce the suffering of the animal"
In light of these and other Islamic texts, the act of inciting terror in the hearts of defenseless civilians, the wholesale destruction of buildings and properties, the bombing and maiming of innocent men, women, and children are all forbidden and detestable acts according to Islam and the Muslims. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the vast majority have nothing to do with the violent events some have associated with Muslims. If an individual Muslim were to commit an act of terrorism, this person would be guilty of violating the laws of Islam.
Western thought today is in the midst of a raging battle between religion and science. It is almost impossible for a western thinker today to accept the fact that there may be a meeting ground between religion and science. The Bible, in which the Christians believe, states that the tree from which the Prophet Adam (‘alaihi salaam) was forbidden to eat was the tree of knowledge. Thus, after he ate from it, he gained certain knowledge that he had not had before. For this reason, Europe spent two centuries arguing whether or not to accept scientific knowledge coming from Muslims. The Church ruled that the pursuit of such scientific knowledge was the cause for the original sin. The bishops drew their evidence from the Old Testament, where it is mentioned that when Adam ate of the tree and gained some knowledge, Allah was displeased with him and denied him mercy. Scientific knowledge was therefore rejected entirely by the Church as a taboo. Finally, when the free thinkers and scientists of the West were able to overcome the power of the Church, they took revenge by going in the opposite direction and suppressing any power of the religion. They went to all possible extremes in order to overcome the power of the Church and reduce its influence into a narrow and a confined corner. Therefore, if you discuss the issue of religion and science with a westerner, he readily goes into sheer wonderment. They do not know Islam. They do not know that Islam accords a very high status to knowledge and men of knowledge, regarding them as witnesses, after the angels, to the fact that there is no god worthy of worship in truth but Allah, as Allah Himself has told us in the Qur'aan:There is no Allah but He: That is the witness of Allah, His angels and those endued with knowledge.
(Qur'aan 3:18)
And Allah, may He be exalted and Glorified has also told us:
Know, therefore, that there is no true deity but Allah.
(Qur'aan 47:19)
It is known from the Qur'aan that Adam (‘alaihi salaam) was favored over the angels by virtue of the knowledge given to him by Allah. The Qur'aanic story contradicts that of the Bible which Muslims hold to have been distorted. According to the Qur'aan, the fact that Adam was given knowledge is a mark of honor, and not the cause of his expulsion from Paradise. Hence, if one discusses Islam and science with Western thinkers, they tend to expect an argument similar to what they have in their own religious and cultural context. That is why they react with surprise when they are presented with the crystal clear facts of the Qur'aan and Sunnah.Among those who were taken by surprise is Dr. Joe Leigh Simpson, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. When we first met him, Professor Simpson insisted on verifying the Qur'aan and the Sunnah. We were able, however, to remove his suspicion. We presented to him the text outlining the development of the embryo. We proved to him that the Qur'aan informs us that the hereditary and the chromosomal make-up of the new being take place only after a successful union between the sperm and the ovum. As we know, these chromosomes contain all the characteristics which the new human being will have such as the color of the eyes, skin, hair, etc.Hence, many of the details in the human being’s make-up are determined in his chromosomes. These chromosomes begin to form during the early nutfah stage of embryonic development. In other words, the distinguishing features of the new human being are determined from the very beginning at the nutfah stage. Allah, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorified, has stated this fact in the Qur'aan:Woe to man! What has made him reject Allah? From what stuff has He created him? From a sperm-drop: He has created him, and then molded him in due proportion.
(Qur'aan 80:17-19)
During the first 40 days of gestation, all the body parts and organs are completely, though consecutively formed. We can notice in Figure 2.1 that the organs begin to be formed, assembled, and the fetus appears twisted. The Prophet Muhammad, (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), has informed us in a hadeeth that: In every one of you, all components of your creation are gathered together in your mothers’ womb by 40 days.
(Narrated in Saheeh Muslim and Al-Bukhaari).
